No, they were leaving the EU, not visiting it. To be fair, the queen did go for the first time in a long time.

All the media I've seen blames Macron, not the left. So it could backfire. Just like his snap election did.

Shotgun approach gets some bites and is cheap per ad. Targeted approach is more expensive to do and for advertisers tonsay for. However, its more effective. If they could all be targeted well, they wouls

Well, they are meant to be punished for it at the next election. The problem is the media makes everything a big scandal when not all of it is.

In this case he's subverting the will of the people, so he should be destroyed at the ballot. However the division and rise of the far right means it could short that way too. Those who shifted left last time might shift back having shown their discontent.

He's saying he doesn't want Parliament to have a no confidence vote, bit if there is non stable government as voted, that's what is supposed to happen. Then return for election again.

That and because the republicans will keep claiming they want to raise taxes and peopke dont like being taxed. Does it matter that its a tax increase that only affects the wealthy? No, as they too are a temporarily embarrassed millionaire.

I do agree that capital income and earned income should be treated equally, but the politics of that make it more difficult.

It might have been better to reduce the higher income tax by an equivalent amount to match a higher rate, so that the overall tax take is roughly similar, somewhere in the middle, but then shed be accused of helping billionaires.

Almost like institutional racism is a thing.

They already do that with different pricing based on distance to stage. This is gouging, which is different. They stagger the releases to control the market, so as to artificially inflate demand and prices.

I'm a bit hopeful for the USA at the moment. Hopefully it doesn't all go to crap.

As a European, now Australian, I'm not enamoured with compulsory voting. Its good in that it prevents the kind of polarised politics of the USA, where extreme views win votes as they encourage fringe elements to Vite and those in the middle not to. However, it also makes us very susceptible to advertising and propaganda as more low information voters make up the voting blocs.

It likely resonates with many women who get spoken over by men a lot. It doesn’t matter if they are in a position of authority, or an expert, or the boss. They have a vagina, you see, so cannot really be in charge.

I don’t think it’s a great slogan and comes across as rude, rather than collaborative, but I can understand why some like it.

I just recently got the 190 update pushed. It mentioned lots of fixes. One was image handling.

I have found that now exiting an image is a bit slow or glitchy. A single gesture to go back does not exit and instead it needs two. Tapping an image instead still closes it but there is a delay that wasnt there before.

I'm on a pixel 7pro with gesture navigation.

My phone coverage stopped for a period. I was using connect at the time and a comment failed. I initially thought it was a big but noted after restarting, it still was out. Then I checked with a test search to find it was all internet.

A few minutes later internet was back. Went back into Lemmy and refreshed. No data showing. I checked down-for-me for my instance and it was up. Refreshed again. No data.

Again restarted app and it was fine then. So, it seems he connection outage did not allow refresh after it came back, despite a restart during the outage.
