My dad came up in the Vietnam era when all his friends were getting drafted (aka forced to go to war). He tried to enlist but was blind in one eye, so they didn't take him. My brother would have enlisted if it weren't for a really bad skateboarding injury.

I've committed to not buying new gas appliances when the old stuff breaks. I switched to a heat pump water heater last year. I really want to get rid of my gas stove next.

I finally found a use for an underpowered sbc I bought during the pandemic. I put Debian base, lightdm and sugar on it. It was a fun project for me. Hopefully it introduces a lifelong love of computers.
