Getting very up close and personal revealed all kinds of fine detail I was personally unaware of. For example, look at that texture/pattern around the bird's eye.

Haha, you got me curious. Evidently red finches are house finches. Wikipedia called out a gold variant that we see around here. There's also the goldfinch, which has a greater share of yellow. Ah, humans and your naming that allows for some variation, but not too too much variation.
