I think you might've eaten some really old and rotten papaya if that is what it tasted like.

I don't know, my father didn't have any problem with it, he ate it all. I mean the taste was so striking I still remember that even after 5 years

Does papaya just taste like… nothing to some people? Has a weird smell, not sweet at all like other fruit, weird aftertaste, the texture was creamy almost? Like overripe mango, and you have to squirt half a lemon onto it to make it palatable.

It’s probably just myself, as the ones I had were definitely excellent in the fruit sense as I was in Latin America and they were freshly harvested and ripened properly, but it just wasn’t good. :/ wish I could like it.

Papaya is taste kind of like cantaloupe

Not even close if I’m honest, it’s texture is like very overripe cantelope, cantelope should still have a slight crunch. Cantelope is also incredibly sweet, which I couldn’t say about papaya.

It's a natural meat tenderizer, the seeds especially. Smash the seeds on a cheap steak, let it sit overnight, good stuff.
