No, it won't. Corporations in today's time have this entitlement that you should know everything beforehand. You need a lot more than that. Oh, you don't know Ansible? Don't understand Terraform? Can't fix a Docker config? Haven't used AWS? Rejected, next?

That's actually nice that there's a low-profile plug available. I could see a alternative type socket with recessed plug socket, sideways ground like the Schuko, and the angled pins.

What I like about socket type I is that it has both 2 and 3-pin variants, which is a nice feature. And you're right about how stable it is, given how the pins are angled.

However, from all the images I've seen online, it seems to me that those cables aren't at the bottom or the top, but toward the center. I mean, if you had something like a sofa or a bed pushed towards the plus, that would cause egregious amount of damage to the plug. Now, I could be in the wrong here.

Also, the ground isn't tall enough, as screen in type G, D or M, which could be a safety hazard. And the point about the accessible fuse, which is a plus in type G, apparently doesn't seem to be in any other socket.

In support of type F socket, they're socketed - as in, a significant part of the plug has to go in first. And this interaction enables the plugs to be grounded first, before any of the other pins come into contact. You're getting both stability and ground connection at the same time.

What's with Git? Sure, it is used by a lot of people, but it has some of it's own shortcomings as a snapshot-based version control. VCS like Pijul has it's own advantages, something to do with the patch theory of differences (disclaimer: I'm not an expert in this).

I am also kinda opposed to enforcing XDG, because of how unstandardized it is. Like for example, to set a terminal, GNOME Shell had to hardwired a piece of code to their internals, checking to see if a particular environment variable exists, , or else use gnome-terminal, which is just bad practise.

What about the electric socket? I like Type F, but I hate how it doesn't have replaceable fuse, like Type G. I also think 3-pin should be mandatory. And about electricity, 230V, 50Hz should be the standard.

Over here in India, we have type C, D and M, and they're decent, I guess. From a safety perspective, it is kinda bad, give how I confused type C slot with type M. This way, I have accidentally bent the two-pin many-a-times.

Jon Minadeo II is also an indophobe, it seems. But little does this clown know that the Aryans that these neo-Nazis claim to be, used to live in modern-day Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and north India? The word 'Arya' means noble and honorable one, and this clown is neither of that.

Is C a low-level language?

A "preference" that is a farce, and was shoved on her, and many other PoC, and which they had to accept after getting tired of repeated mispronunciation, you fucking dickhead. Do I have to stress this multiple times?

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Insular brain-rot specimen over here with a limited capability to understand nuances, I know it hurts your head when I have to make you empathize with PoCs, and how they're tired of correcting people all the time to the point that they give up and pick a approximate pronounciation, but clowns like you will do their best to decide what's right for them, and at the same time, suppress what people from the same group have to say about it. Hilarious, right?

Does stepping on a mattress count as grass? Cuz you know, cotton and shit?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Actually, this is the right pronounciation, but obviously, with the words swapped.

Consider keeping this imperialist opinion to yourself. The last thing I need is someone bullying me into accepting how words from my culture and language is spoken, and how I need to accommodate to your inconveniences. It may be socially acceptable for you to make other PoCs feel all weird and uncomfortable about themselves, but you can't bully me into this.

I'll start - I don't shop a lot, but if I had to buy stuff like hardware parts, I do use Amazon sometimes, but if I can, then I try to use Flipkart. Realizing how it has turned into a monopoly, I try to look for alternative websites, and check if they're trustworthy.

If I remember correctly, the last three items I've bought online were hardware parts from some local websites. The chi-fi IEMs were bought through headphonezone.in, and they were super-fast in delivery - I had to wait for only four days.

They're all available on this Tumblr page. I'd appreciate it a lot.

Edit: I've fixed the Mediafire links:

I've installed a new battery on my laptop, but to my surprise, the percentage of charge in the battery is at 0. Here's the upower diagnostics:

$ upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0
  native-path: BAT0
  serial: 0
  power supply: yes
updated: Thursday 11 July 2024 09:54:55 PM (16 seconds ago)
  has history: yes
  has statistics: yes
  battery
    present: yes
    rechargeable: yes
    state: pending-charge
    warning-level: none
    energy: 0 Wh
    energy-empty: 0 Wh
    energy-full: 0 Wh
    energy-full-design: 0 Wh
    energy-rate: 0 W
    charge-cycles: 100
    percentage: 0%
    technology: lithium-ion
    icon-name: 'battery-caution-charging-symbolic'

The "energy-full-design" capacity of the battery should be 70Wh, but here it is, at 0Wh. None of the statistics above (except date and time) have updated, and it's been two days already. How do I calibrate this battery?

I've seen their last few laptops, and it looks like as if they stayed true to their laptops being repairable, compared to the ThinkPads of the same generation. I'm talking about devices like the TravelMate P2 and the P4.

Was wondering if these weren't seen as a nicer alternative to the Thinkpads, and if so, then why? Is the TravelMate build quality not that great?

I've been searching for a used Thinkpad for so long, and the shipping price from the USA is ridiculously high between 80-120$, so I've been looking for any European options on eBay.

I came across a Thinkpad X395 from 2019, with AMD Ryzen 5 3500U, 16GB of RAM and a measly 265GB of space. On rough estimates, thus exact build will be sold for 150-250$ in the USA, plus the shipping cost. Now, this laptop is from Slovenia, at a whopping 900£, plus the 40-60£ shipping.

Now, what's with this ridiculous pricing for an almost 6-year-old device? Are electronics sold in Slovenia so expensive that they are barely affected by yearly depreciation?

I've been trying to find Thinkpad laptops with specifications equivalent to, or better than my old Ideapad with i5-8265U. So far, I've only been using Ebay. Unless explicitly mentioned, all prices are without shipping charges. This time, I've restricted myself to the following rules:

  • Assume +100$ for all product (international shipping)
  • Look for 8th, 9th and 10th gen Intel processors, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen AMD processors.
  • 8 (assuming SODIMM is free for another 8GB)/16/32GB of RAM
  • 256GB (if device is cheap, I can upgrade it myself)/512GB/1TB
  • Pick devices with 8th gen Intel processors under 200$
  • Pick devices with 9th gen Intel and 1st gen Ryzen processors under 250$
  • Pick devices with 10th gen Intel and 2nd/3rd gen Ryzen processors under 300$
  • Assume an extra 50-100$ for workstation dGPU
  • Do not buy anything higher than 450$ (with shipping price included)

However, to my surprise, 8th gen devices are still being sold around 250-350$, 9th gen devices and almost every Ryzen-based devices are non-existent, and 10th gen devices are surprisingly the same or lower than 8th gen, but their prices get inflated after auction - perhaps by shill bidding bots.

I also can't figure out this - why are there no listings from Europe or Middle East? Shipping from America is too expensive (although way cheaper that the local listings here).

How can I get better for finding used/refurbished/renewed Thinkpad?
