This is a good basic starter, but there's so much more that can be done for efficiency and further reducing your impact while owning a house. These are a few off the top of my head:

  • Installing high efficiency windows and doors
  • Keep/add the mud room
  • Add better insulation
  • If you're in the middle of a remodel, check for water distribution efficiency
  • Grow a small hydroponic garden for your most commonly eaten veggies
  • They're currently pretty rare, but adding a recycling water shower
  • Battery assisted fridges and stoves (there's a healthy dose of nuance between this and home battery backups)
  • Form a community microgrid

To me, that sounds like you need to take the time to do your home projects first and then take the vacation. I don't know what would work best for you, but for me it would be taking another 6 week break. I'd spend the first 3 weeks doing the home tasks, and the next 3 on the vacation

You should try it, long vacations are awesome

That means your vacations aren't long enough. I tend to start getting the feeling of wanting to be productive about 2.5 weeks into any long vacation. Start with 3 weeks and then take off even more next time if it didn't work

They have a debian based version, it's pretty awesome. It's still a beta fork atm, but it's rock solid so far

Factory farming should be banned. Food is not worth that cruelty, even if the fires have nothing to do with the farm itself.

Having lived in a house with radiators, bleeding registers is like a once every 5 years type of task. There's a much larger leak in the system, you should talk to your apartment manager.

They won't realize it unless someone helps them understand. Start with organizing a union

Some of the more avid history fans might be thinking, "Casey Jones saved several lives, why is he being portrayed as a scab?"

The intro that Utah gives for this song doesn't explain it enough in my opinion. It's a fictitious and comedy song that uses the name recognition of Casey, simply because there weren't really any well known railroad scabs and Joe Hill was basing this song on the Ballad of Casey Jones in honor of a rail strike.

Company could endure biggest US strike of 2024 as unions accuse it of intimidation during contract negotiations

Disney could face the largest strike in the US this year after it was announced that thousands of theme park and hotel workers in California will vote on whether to stage a walkout.

Three trade unions representing 14,000 “cast members” at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney and the Disney hotels announced an unfair labor practice strike vote would be held next week amid negotiations over a new union contract.

In a critical statement, union leaders accused Disney of “unlawful discipline and intimidation and surveillance” of union members. The entertainment giant did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
