In the sense that there are different servers for the same service, but it's not a social platform.

If only fans is not encrypted, wouldn't these cops have other ways to detect and tackle csam material?

Assuming it is not encrypted, what's stopping them from doing their job? Only thing I can think of they could use as an excuse would be, accessing copyrighted materials, especially since it's under a pay wall.

That was one my points.

Searx, has no ads, and is federated, And so is Mastodon, Lemmy and so on.

It seems almost as if if you use 3rd party ooen source federated sites, you dont even have to worry about blocking them to begin with.

Google has been blocking adblockers, or atleast trying to for some time now. Notably on Youtube.

I barely feel the impact of this because I use Mastodon, Lemmy, Peertube and other services that don't have ads.

Unlike your traditional website, these services federate, with each other over this Fediverse thing we all know about.

What's good about this is if, some severs wants to be greedy against it's users, users can easily just change servers and not have to worry about losing familiarity with the platforms user interfaces that they grew accustomed to.

Legally the largest Mastodon, Peertube servers and other can't do anything to smaller servers as the software used for the Fediverse platforms, generally are open source and federated with each other with help from activity pub which is also open source.

I hate that they do raise prices over time. These companies get tin these contracts for sports and with specific companies that raise their own expense and hurts consumers. That and these companies had always wanted to charge more either way.

Jokes on them as I don't care about my warranties, never did. Call me a dumb consumer, but atleast I wrecked the big evil corporation.

edit: I didn't know about Nintnedo doing this, I just knew about the cheaply made joycons that would drift by deSign after a certain point. The sollution to this was so simple but Nintendo chose not to fix it for the entire Switch's life spawn.

Leaving it up to 3rd party switch controller manufacturers. Which who knows how long untill they try to ban 3rd party controllers on Nintendo consoles.

What would be a good alternative for Meta to use to user count to prove Threads is succesful?

I hate companies as much as most, but ad supported plans are a nice addition. The only downside, Netflix can remove the free tier at anytime. What free tier some might ask, I heard that there could be an ad free tier coming.

There was a u.s law passed just a few months ago that makes it illegal in the u.s to talk against Israel.

There are allot of sentences stating what could be antisemitic but it's not limited to those, and theirs a specific definition it tells people to look at.

However, there are many reasons that add up to why the video may had been removed. I personally don't think there was exclusively just one specific one reason for the videos removal but a atleast a couple of leading factors.

Some examples of what might add up to why it was removed could be,

  1. various countries just this past year introduced various hate speech laws,

2)many countries concluded together and have a more united focus on tackling hateful speech. Trying to keep the world at a peaceful state, especially for minority groups that need these protections.

There are a few others I can't think of right this second. but all these reasons add up to the final decision for the moderation action of the video takedown.

I been looking at various apps, how some are less addictive then others. and also how it varies from users to users which apps are more or less addictive to them.

A more, generic example of this is,

I use play the game Splatoon 2 and 3 on Nintendo switch, and my Switch's battery would always be seemingly draining and dying.

I'm over here thinking, why does the Nintendo Switch battery sucks so bad, then I realize.. that the battery isn't as bad as it seemed, the game Splatoon was just addictive.

Splatoon as a game doesn't really end you just keep playing and playing rank or turf matches. When the battery gets low, you might still want to keep playing but can't and would have to charge the switch console. (sure there's a story mode but the game doesn't just stop after you completed the story.

Now take this similar concept of never ending, and addictive apps to your smartphone and even your laptop or PC.

Social media generally is also never ending and as addictive. I got an *offline pong game and played a few rounds offline on my smartphone and eventually I did get bored, there was no leveling up or nothing just a generic game. Technically the game didn't end but since my brain wasn't getting much dopamine from it I just turn off my phone and my battery notably lasted a lot longer then when I was playing more addictive and time consuming games/apps.

Thoughts?

I'm looking for lower than instant gadification resources for the news. If I get a news paper weekly, rather then just constantly checking the internet for what usually ends up being the same stories, just another outlet.

There aren't too many of these news paper companies today, and if there are other ways to reduce instant gratification for news that yall know you can mention them in this post.

Think about it, when dvd came out just about all the movies industries, companies decided to drop making pies for vcr on VHS.

That medium died out and never really had the chance to evolve because of this. There was even an (or a few) HD VHS tapes that most wouldn't believe were made on VHS.

Another more recent example of this problem is, now allot of media companies are chasing after ai. Are there any major companies that make movies/shows/cartoons/anime that are not in some compacity?

We need companies that take different paths, and, not do exactly as everyone else is doing. That's what's wrong with the movie and film industry today. They're appear to me to be, afraid, and cowards, to think out of the box. There afraid, and scared to stand out, and be interesting. To wreck other companies. Scared, and afraid to compete. Cowardly. these companies seem to be.

edit: why are we still on blueray, why isn't their a newer physical media format for movies? Some might say that physical media is dead, I would say that it seems like no one (company) wants to step out of line and make a newer format to replace blueray.

Like someone might follow local weather and local news, but nothing global.
