YES, I USE THIS TOO TO STAY CONSISTENT WITH SQL QUERIES

I've been on Codeberg for over a year now and the experience has been great. It has been around for a while, it's fast, thanks to Forgejo, the self-hostable open-source software that Codeberg uses, which also offers great features.

However, it lacks a good CI/CD system. I feel like Woodpecker (the CI/CD system Codeberg uses) can't do more complex things. Forgejo/Gitea have their own CI/CD system which is better, but Codeberg still uses Woodpecker.

But other than that, why isn't Codeberg more widely adopted? Even privacy advocates continue to use GitHub, despite its acquisition by Microsoft. I agree with the sentiment that GitHub has a large user base, and its widespread adoption is undeniable, but I still think more people should try Codeberg or even self-host their own Forgejo/Gitea instances.

So, I'm curious to hear your perspective. What are the reasons that keep you tied to GitHub? Do the features and network outweigh the privacy concerns? Are there specific functionalities that you rely on and haven't found elsewhere?

I agree that adding every package to my NixOS configuration isn't the right way to do things, and I should definitely use a devshell or nix-shell -p $package for that. However, it's much more noticeable when I'm working with something like an HTTP server, constantly adding new things to the config, and needing to wait 25 seconds to actually test it.

It varies by day. Some days, I rebuild the system flake five times, while other weeks I don't rebuild it at all. However, the time it takes to rebuild remains about the same.

I'm a beginner/intermediate in NixOS and my flake rebuild takes about 25 seconds to be finished. Most of the time is evaluating derivation for some reason and it's getting kinda frustrating having to wait when I want to add a package to my config. Has anyone the same problem or is it normal that it takes this long in Nix?

The default built-in GUI Microsoft Store absolutely positively sucks. The winget package manager is also not meant for the regular people.

I like how they monetized their API and data because they don't want it to be used to train AI models, and now they are selling user data for millions to OpenAI.

It basically doesn't matter. Your connection already goes through 3 nodes on the Tor network and that is plenty enough. There is no reason why you should prefer HTTPS sites over HTTP on the Tor network.

Can't really recommend Manjaro to new users after the fairly recent controversies.
