Between 2012 and 2022, there were 21,000 reported cases, according to Brazil's Ministry of Health. This resulted in more than 4,000 deaths and, over the past decade, there have been more than 6,500 amputations - averaging two each day.

Maranhão, the poorest state in Brazil, was found to have the highest incidence rate globally at 6.1 per 100,000 men.

Symptoms of penile cancer often start with a sore on the penis that does not heal and a strong-smelling discharge. Some people get bleeding and colour changes of the penis, too.

When detected early, there is a high chance of recovery through treatments such as the surgical removal of the lesion, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

But if left untreated, partial or total amputation of the penis, and possibly other nearby genital organs such as the testicles, may become necessary.

The Continent's housing crisis has gone from being a slow burn to a four-alarm fire — but some countries are handling it better than others.

One of Europe’s long-simmering political frustrations is suddenly boiling over.

From Lisbon to Łódź, voters are angry about the lack of affordable housing. Anti-immigrant riots broke out in Dublin last fall, fueled in part by claims that the Irish capital’s limited public housing was being given to foreigners. Meanwhile, in cities like LisbonAmsterdam and Milan, thousands of protesters have taken to the streets to denounce the lack of affordable homes.

In a poll ahead of last week’s far-right surge in the European Parliament election, the Continent’s mayors listed housing as one of the most important issues facing their constituencies.

Fireworks launched from a yacht in Greece sparked a forest fire on the island of Hydra on Friday, the local firefighting authority has said.

The blaze burnt the only pine forest on the tourist island, which lies south of Athens, the authority wrote on Facebook.

It has now been brought under control, but with difficulty. As there are no roads to the beach, firefighters had to access it by sea, while helicopters dropped water from the air.

The cause of the fire has prompted outrage in Greece, which is already battling several wildfires and is in the grip of its first heatwave of the year.

Vital drugs are either not authorized or are deemed too expensive, as cases rise.

Rates of tuberculosis are on the rise in Europe, but countries are ill-equipped and lack access to the latest drugs targeting the worst strains.

Some patients are spending a year and a half in hospital isolation receiving old medicines instead of just six months of treatment at home, because countries do not have access to the most up-to-date therapies to cure people of the infectious disease.

In some EU countries, the latest medicines are either not authorized or are deemed too expensive to use. To effectively treat patients, the NGO Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) has stepped in to help in Poland and Slovakia.

Earlier this year, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (EDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that Europe was stalling in its quest to suppress tuberculosis and could miss its 2030 targets to end the disease. The agencies caution that if Europe doesn't get a grip on the rising rates of infection with the recommended cocktail of drugs, the gains made over the last decade could be lost.

In the past several weeks, I have watched dozens of sleek U.S. military planes descend over Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where I live. They were the first flights to land since gangs blockaded and halted commercial air traffic in March. U.S. news reports suggest that the aircraft contained civilian contractors and supplies to pave the way for the deployment of a Kenyan-led security mission to Haiti, which is expected to begin any day now.

But no one has informed Haitians who or what was on board. Even the members of Haiti’s new transitional government told me that they did not know precisely what the United States was flying into the country. Although the Haitian members of the presidential council have met with Kenyan and Haitian officials to discuss the force, they said they have not provided input to U.S. officials. Aides to newly installed Prime Minister Garry Conille confirmed that he has had no say on decisions related to the mission. It remains unclear what the force’s specific goals are or how it can contribute to rebuilding the Haitian state.

Russian president delivered the warning after Seoul announced it would consider arming Kyiv.

Russian President Vladimir Putin Thursday warned South Korea that sending lethal weapons to Ukraine would be a “big mistake.”

His comments come after Seoul announced it would consider arming Ukraine in response to Russia and North Korea signing a mutual defense pact on Wednesday.

“If South Korea supplies weapons to Ukraine, it will not like the answer. I hope they won’t do it, it would be a big mistake,” Putin said at a press conference in Vietnam, where he is conducting a two-day state visit aimed at deepening strategic cooperation.

That's exactly what is happening in India.

Even this contemporary push for hindu nationalism is already making inequality worse than before.

Corruption, unemployment, inflation is getting worse which will further expand the gap between haves and have nots and people are being distracted with culture wars.

There is ample of evidence.

Gujarati businesses are taking over others and driving out local businesses with the help of the government.

A case study of this is the large steamers of Gujarati billionaires that are driving small boaters out of their livelihood in Varanasi

4500 Poor people's houses and shops bulldozed to build five star hotels owned by Gujarati property tycoons in Ayodhya

World's largest semiconductor plant being built in Ahmedabad completely bankrolled by taxpayers money but owned by Adani a Gujarati billionaire.

Go search yourself there is plenty of evidence.

It means exotic dance. Modi used the word in his campaign speeches to target opposition.

BJP is a far right hindu supremacist party serving a handful of Billionaires. Sort of like Trump and republicans. After 10 years of distracting people from major issues like corruption, inflation, unemployment, safety of women with theopolitics they finally lost the majority and now they are only in power because of the support of two left wing parties who could leave them anytime.

Any sensible country will think about providing more incentives to women & couples to have more children and fix financial stressors that's scaring people away from parenthood.

But no let's try some nutjob theories 😂

That would require a $69 bill.

Solar eclipses happen every 1-3 years.

But the darkest shadow called the umbra only falls in a very tiny place, slightly bigger than a few Districts and that shadow moves in a line and those places experience total solar eclipse.

So next year there may be another solar eclipse but New York will not experience a total solar eclipse for a long time.

Also two-thirds of the earth is water so most of the time the umbra falls on the sea.

Nazis are still foolish.

There is no such thing as a German Anglo-Aryan race with blue hair and blonde eyes.

Hilter made it up.

But it was 20 years too early for the discovery of DNA.

Neo-nazis are even stupider to still believe that nonsense like flat earthers.

All Jews in all countries except Zionist Jews are against this bloodshed.

It's a race war disguised as a crusade.

Yeah that's a universal phenomenon in America. I have seen the same thing everywhere and I have travelled to all 50 states.

No other country does that except for the UAE.

Maybe Car companies make city planners and businesses do that on purpose, so we are helplessly dependent on cars.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Yeah that's what Europe has done. You never need a car to go anywhere. Every place is well connected by public transport.

USA is however designed differently. even if there is a grocery store or Walmart right next to your residence it will be separated by a green wall and then connected with a round about ending in a parking lot.

Apart from New York and few other cities most of the American cities have gone to great lengths so you don't have to step out of your car.
