I got a used unit for much cheaper from the place I previously worked at. If I had to spend 5K on one, I probably wouldn't use it either.

Probably won't be that useful for me, since I use Linux most of the time, but I'm thinking about new Linux users. If they could already start using all the KDE applications on Windows, the learning curve after switching to Linux would be much lower. I've also seen other KDE apps for Windows and macOS before, but had no idea this would also work with Dolphin.

I will eventually move to a VPS provider who doesn't mind public torrents

There aren't many providers where this is the case, that's why I'm looking into getting a cheap dedicated server from an actual seedbox provider. Some have them, e.g. RapidSeedbox and seedhost.eu. RapidSeedbox dedicated servers are really expensive though.

The notifications themselves are still end-to-end encrypted though (from the Proton Mail notification server to the client on your phone), so Google, Apple or any other push notification provider can't read them.

Hmm, that's weird. It worked just fine for me. I even tried it with a file that I exported from Apple Wallet, it worked just fine in fWallet.

What do you use now? AirVPN? Proton?

Ok well the ECO boxes don't really work as a seedbox, as they're highly limited in bandwidth. Even if I don't download anything, I still seed the torrent for others to download it. That's the main purpose of a seedbox I guess. Since your ECO box only really acts as a downloader anyway, wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just get a VPN for downloading torrents, or a service like RealDebrid?

Oh I only thought about the .pkpass use case, as that's what I've been using PassAndroid for, before I switched to fWallet.

You mean just as small and quick as the Russian special military operation in Ukraine?

Currently on Iridium G10, I was on Gold G10 before, but ran out of storage. It's pretty expensive though, and I'm open for better suggestions. I think the next one I'm gonna try out is AppBox. Unfortunately no XMR, but they offer other crypto currencies such as BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH and others. seedboxes.cc also seems interesting. I'm also looking into getting a dedicated server from seedhost.eu for ~30 EUR/month.

What do you use now?

hydroxide-push is a fork of hydroxide for receiving Proton Mail push notifications for via UnifiedPush created by @[email protected]
Thanks a lot for creating this awesome project!

This is going to be very useful, until Proton finally implements native UP support in their Android apps. (They currently only support Google's proprietary FCM). Make sure to upvote this feature request: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail/suggestions/47423924-support-unifiedpush-for-android-notifications

UnifiedPush is receiving a grant from NLnet (Fediverse profile):

This is now official, UnifiedPush is receiving a grant from @nlnet ! Thanks a lot for their support. Expect some improvements on the protocol and new applications supporting #UnifiedPush in some time !

Make sure to follow @[email protected], @[email protected] and the #UnifiedPush hashtag on Mastodon (or your preferred ActivityPub-based microblog platform)

Hey guys,
I created this community to promote and talk about the UnifiedPush project. It aims to create a free and open source alternative to Google's proprietary Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). Quite a few apps have already adopted the UP protocol, but there are still many FOSS apps lacking support for it. I will post GitHub issue threads where UP integration in FOSS apps is being discussed. I will also post about new apps that gained UnifiedPush support, and other useful tools that help with using UP. If you want to stay up-to-date about ongoing developments in the Android FOSS ecosystem in regards to push notifications, consider subscribing to [email protected]

I also recommend following the official Mastodon account, joining the Matrix room and donating to support development!

cross-posted from: https://programming.dev/post/15162087

so, about a month ago i stumbled upon the duckduckgo ai chat feature and wrote an article about how private their APIs are, and a few weeks after, a CLI client.

the thing is in a pretty mature stage now (its not like there is a lot of work to be done there tbh)

its not super private, but it is "private enough". the only thing duckduckgo has is your IP, which is usually not much unless you are on a residential connection with a dedicated IP

Does anyone have an idea why this is happening?
