In my school in the 80’s it was optional. I took mainly as SAT practice, then got an endless stream of recruiters calling me. I was the only one I knew (my group was all college track) who took it, got a 99 and did not find it useful to improve my SAT

Look into the Shortcuts app. This is Apples answer to creating automations on your iPhone. While I’ve never tried this, I see that it can send actions to the HA app. Perhaps that will do what you want

So your options include

  • use your HA dashboard
  • create a link to an action or scene in HA
  • configure HomeKit bridge and use a HomeKit dashboard
  • configure HomeKit Bridge and use Siri
  • Use the Shortcuts app to automate the HA app

HomeKit bridge also makes the devices available to Siri

What do you need the HomeKit device for?

I’m a light user of HomeKit so may not have run into the limitations yet. I use the HomeKit Bridge to expose a few light switches to HomeKit and then used AppleFamily to duplicate that to my kids. What little I use it for is fine without a HomeKit device

There are more than two possibilities, plus you may not know if you’ve never lived there.

I’ve appreciated living in rural areas, suburban, and downtown areas for different parts of my life. Currently I’m suburban but not typical American suburb. As a town built out long before the automobile, we have a more concentrated town center and mixed use neighborhoods with lots of things in easy walking distance. I live in a single family rom on a street if similar but can walk to the town center with pretty much every grouped together. Or the elementary school is for the neighborhood and was a very easy walk when my kids were little. Similar to a park and playing fields, and a spray park. I have a short walk to a convenience store but usually prefer the longer walk to a full grocery. During COViD we started a tradition of walking to the center, grabbing a kebab and eating outside on the town Common.

BT on my 2016 Subaru has been solid. Actually there’s some sort of bad connection in the data path so the BT is more reliable than the wired connection

So you know which sofa cushion the EarPod is under

Same here: the t seems the most logical answer. I’m not especially convinced by the arguments in this article, except that they are at least as strong as “man the hunter” arguments so neither changes my mind

Now that would be a hugely welcome change

Jokes on you …. I’m in the US and my company is trying to bribe us back to the office with good free lunches. Still can’t compete with work from home but half and half is working so far

Mine has a non-stick pan. It all comes down to how quickly you empty it. Emptied immediately, it rinses clean. If it sits around while I eat, I’ll need to scrub a little

New user here, yes I’m looking for alternatives to Reddit …

I created an account on lemmy.world, subscribed to a couple communities, and even replied to a post. So far, so good.

However, it keeps showing me as not logged in. The weird thing is I still have my subscribed communities, but am not logged in. Every once in a while when I try something more than reading, I have to login again (then again, sometimes I don’t). For example, by the time I read a bunch of posts in a community to decide whether I want to subscribe, I sometimes need to login again to subscribe

I’m browsing lemmy.world from Safari on iPad, and should have mostly default settings. Can anyone help with explaining or fixing this behavior? It’s really annoying.
