This is a place to share greentexts and witness the confounding life of Anon. If you're new to the Greentext community, think of it as a sort of zoo with Anon as the main attraction.

Be warned:

If you find yourself getting angry (or god forbid, agreeing) with something Anon has said, you might be doing it wrong.

"newfriend" is the word filter πŸ˜‚

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Maybe people just started typing it that way instead to begin with, you can't know

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

I've been on the site since 2004, I absolutely know πŸ˜‚

What a bunch of horseshit. What's it meant to be?

4chan is a sea of garbage.

greentext communities are held up by the patient people trudging through shit, who post the rare pearl or two you rarely find there.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

a few times they jokingly banned porn on /b/ for 24 hours or so, and it was absolutely epic. the content was so good. old users coming back and having a laugh. just like the golden days of /b/

they should do this again

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

/b/ is just nasty now. Even the YLYL threads are just awful stuff scooped from the bottom of /pol/.

There are few sometimes decent boards, especially if you can find decent reoccurring general threads with regulars in them.

/tv/ should just be renamed Prometheus though. It's incredible how much that one movie has broken that place.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

>be me

>go on /tv/

>see post about prometheus

op was not fake (possibly gay)

how to find authentic green texts on 4chan?

[–] [email protected] 50 points 2 weeks ago

That’s the great part, you don’t

[–] [email protected] 41 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Here's the fun thing about greentexts: you can in theory write them on any other platform.

> gets politician called as evil stalinist by other
> looks inside
> the mildest form of social democracy imaginable

Also other platforms, such as Lemmy are often better than 4chan.

I mean, it won't be written by anon, but why not

I'm dch82, not anon

Step 1. Give up your sanity

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

I thought 4chan was the kind of place where if you ever had sanity at any point in your life you are already at a disadvantage?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago

Check out the regular occurring generals and threads that ask specifically for people's stories. GreenTexts outside of that are shunned because they don't want the board spammed by blogposting.

A lot of the posts are shit unless you share the hobby. You will be sifting through so much shit to find something mildly entertaining. I would not recommend.

Browse /b/ or /int/ long enough

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I can't tell if you're joking, malicious, stupid or sincere.

Take my sage.

don't go to /b/

WTMYWTSC

What does that mean?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

webms that make you want to say "cool"

[–] [email protected] 39 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

capchas are so real. Those things suck

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

4chan's captchas are some of the hardest I've ever seen, it's not enough that it's hard to tell what the fuck it's written but having to align the text beforehand is just evil.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It's why everyone is using browser addons or mobile apps that solve it for you. It's not very resilient against computers solving them, it seems.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

A captcha that is easier for a computer to solve than a person seems rarher counterproductive...

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's a shitshow. Nothing but bad changes to that site for years now

Somehow it never occured to me to look for captcha solvers, got to try that next time I visit the site, although I doubt it'll work very well.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

The phone app I use gets it right 10/10. The browser extension, I don't remember which I used was 8/10 or so iirc

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

I swear to God I tried posting once but got my IP locked out from posting because I couldn't get the captcha right before x amount of tries. Thing is at towards the end I was so confident I was putting in the right letters and numbers but it just wasn't taking it.

the internet : a slot machine for things that make you smile a bit.

payout rate : 1 laugh per 100 minutes

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Aww fuck, I just wasted my laugh on this comment... The next hour or so is gonna suck

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

it's on average. also, 100 minutes is not 1 hour, it's 1 hour 40mins.

Get extra rekt.

PS : 100 mins is one metric hour, but we're not on metric time

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

"The next hour or so" both accounts for the variance and is more concise than saying "the next hour and forty minutes, give or take"

But now I want metric time, that sounds nice actually.

my bad, reading comprehension is hard

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly, I often struggle with that too. No harm, no foul, have a nice week!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Not that nice, 10 is only divisible by 2 and 5 while 12 is divisible by 2, 3, 4 and 6 and 60 is also divisible by 5, 10 and 12 so there are actually some good reasons to keep time the way it is.
