Historical Artifacts
Just a community for everyone to share artifacts, reconstructions, or replicas for the historically-inclined to admire!
Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.
How safe is it to cook with bronze?
Completely safe as far as I know. I have some copper cookware myself, even.
What would that pan even be used to cook? I'm having a hard time picturing a use for it.
The link says,
This finely worked and ornate vessel was used for serving food or drink at dinner parties or for pouring libations at religious ceremonies. Such high-quality bronze paterae often have a wolf or ram's head finial to the handle.
... though I know the Romans used similar vessels for sauces and as frying pans.
Put a good seasoning on it and you could fry some eggs! I bet they slide around like a hockey puck!
