I just want some sort of SciFi that doesn't take itself too seriously all the time and isn't dark and broody.

You can get a bit dark, like I enjoyed Stargate Universe, that was a nice mix of dark story telling that still had fun.

I want to have fun and escape the world in SciFi shows, not be reminded of it.

Yeah loved that, it was exactly what I wanted new star trek to be, just not sure if we're gonna get more of it.

Not without major changes. The filming was so sporadic that people had to leave for steadier work.

Out of interest, have you ever watched Red Dwarf.

It's very British, and shows its age a little nowadays, but to me it's still the gold standard for sci-fi comedy.
