Tomatoes come in two varieties:

Tomatoes you can slice without making a goopy mess. These tomatoes have no flavor, but have the benefit of having a physical shape
Tomatoes that turn into a goopy mess when you cut them. These tomatoes have flavor, but are only suitable for sauces
