Dozens of Neo-Nazis demonstrated outside the home of Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) on Saturday night, in an intimidating display of hate. Members of the group NSC-131 — which seeks to create a white-only ethnostate in New England — marched Saturday night through the Boston suburb of Arlington, uniformed in khakis, black jackets, face masks, and baseball caps.
The NSC-131 members moved under cover of darkness, co-opting the progressive activist chant, “Whose streets? Our streets!” The neo-Nazis then lined up on the sidewalk across the street from the Healey’s home, which was protected by state troopers. The group’s members lit red traffic flares, and held these aloft with stiff arm Hitler salutes. They unfurled a banner reading: “WE’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE.”
The action by NSC-131 was an in-the-streets response to civil rights charges brought against the group by the state late last year. A 26-page complaint was lodged by Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell (D) in December. Campbell denounced the group’s efforts to “target and terrorize people across Massachusetts and interfere with their rights,” and insisted the state of Massachusetts is dedicated to “holding this neo-Nazi group and its leaders accountable.”
That legal complaint hits NSC-131 for actions that “unlawfully target and disrupt LGBTQ+ events,” including drag queen story hours; “unlawfully target immigrants based on race and national origin,” including by trespassing at hotels where asylum seekers have been offered temporary housing; “unlawfully attack members of the public,” with frequent brawling at NSC-131 marches; and for numerous efforts to “disrupt public peace and safety.”

Maura Healy was an aggressive lawyer for a long time before she was governor. I'm sure the AG is no exception.

Oh, that's too bad. It'd have been fucking hilarious if they'd actually unlawfully entered her house and she'd exercised her 2A right to mow them down with an assault rifle with a high-cap magazine. I mean, if anyone is justified to exercise those rights, it'd be the target of a neo-Nazi mob, but the funny would be in the irony.
And, before you pile on me about how traumatic it'd be for her, or whatever else, I'm joking. It would not really be funny. Although, I am generally a proponant of doing unto others as they would do unto you. Never hit a pacifist; never refrain from hitting a Nazi.
MA isn't really known for its strong recognition of the 2A, particularly as it pertains to "assault weapons" and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

Yes, who knows? If only someone had transcribed the article into the lemmy post and mentioned armed security in the third sentence. But I guess since that didn't happen, we'll never know if the Governor's home is protected at all times by the Massachusetts State Police.

I'm sure she does have armed protection and it sounds like the staties were involved too so I'm sure they are armed as well. Unfortunately the rest of us aren't allowed to defend ourselves.

MA has banned the AR-15 and similar firearms as well as magazines holding more than 10 rounds even though they are legal under federal law.
So you're saying that the only way you can possibly defend yourself is with an AR-15 and more than 10 rounds?

You can get a permit and gun in MA. It isn't even that hard. The issue is that MA has exceptionally strong municipalities and the "queue" for permits go through the sheriff's office and each office is afforded quite a bit of latitude in how long they're allowed to let people wait.
The last time I lived in MA it was considered a May Issue state meaning that the sheriff's office could deny your license for any reason. I just checked and it looks like that was changed in 2022. Thanks for prompting me to update my knowledge.
I still hate visiting MA because my out of state permits are not recognized. I have a resident permit for the state that I live in as well as a non resident permit from another state but MA only recognizes their own permit.
Also my firearm has an 11 round magazine which makes it illegal in MA.
